(KMOV.com) – Illinois State Troopers told News 4 they are writing more and more tickets for teen drivers who are violating new distracted driving laws.

In an effort to reduce distracted driving, the state passed law that made it illegal for anyone to talk on a phone without a hands free device while driving, but that statute is even stricter for teens. Drivers who are under 18 are not allowed to talk on the phone even if it is hands free, unless it is an emergency.

Police tell News 4 an increasing number of  teens are using Bluetooth devices while driving and are unaware they are breaking the new law.
