ST. LOUIS (KMOV)—Two suspects are in custody and two are on the loose after they allegedly stole a vehicle left running outside a hotel in downtown St. Louis on Monday.

Police say four men allegedly stole a 2012 Chevy Impala rental car sitting outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel in the 200 block of North 4th street just before 7 p.m.

The car’s owner left the car running while he ran into the hotel.  When he returned, the car was gone. It is not known if the victim was a guest at the hotel.

Officers later spotted the stolen vehicle at 12:15 a.m. traveling north at the Interstate 44/Interstate 55 split.  They chased the suspects until they stopped and fled on foot at Garrison and Palm.

According to reports, two of the four suspects were taken into custody at Herbert and Garrison a short time later. The others are still at-large.

Authorities have not released the suspects’ identities or descriptions at this time.

The search and investigation is ongoing.
