(KMOV.com) -- The Missouri Gaming Commission visited Lumiere Casino to consider a merger between Ameristar and Pinnacle Entertainment Wednesday.
The Federal Trade Commission ruled it would be unfair for one company to own three casinos in the St. Louis area.
Because of this, Pinnacle plans to sell the downtown Lumiere Casino and Four Seasons hotel.
Pinnacle says it will live up to the financial pledges it has made to city projects like the Blues museum and Arch Ground renovations.
“Those commitments we have made to the city, they will still be fulfilled,” said Pinnacle CEO Anthony Sanfilippo. “We will still be in the St. Louis area with the St. Charles Ameristar facility and River City property. So we will still be in the St. Louis community for a long time to come”
Today the gaming commission voted to approve the sale of Lumiere Casino. Pinnacle hopes to complete the merger in August.
