(KMOV) – A neighborhood’s dumpster was removed, but the huge heaps of trash around it was not.

On the corner of 49th and Caseyville in Washington Park, Ill., matters got out of control as far as the garbage was concerned.  Washington Park Mayor Ann Rogers said a resident requested a dumpster earlier this week from St. Clair County. However, the dumpster filled up quickly, and neighbors began leaving their trash next to the dumpster.

Crews removed the dumpster, but the garbage that was next to it remained.

Mayor Rogers said the crew should not be blamed. She said residents should not have assumed that the corner was a dumping ground just because the dumpster was filled to capacity.

Rogers directed a crew to remove the remaining garbage late afternoon Thursday. Residents told News 4 they are happy that the corner has been cleared.
