(KMOV.com) -- Firefighters rescued a person who was inside a building when it caught fire in north St. Louis on Thursday.

Firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at the J. Higgs Auto Auction building near the intersection of N. Kingshighway and San Francisco around 6 a.m.

Upon their arrival, they found the first floor engulfed in flames. Crews eventually got the blaze out and one person was taken out of the building on a stretcher.

The victim’s condition was unknown.

Officials did not say what caused the fire.
