(KMOV) -- The Normandy School District ended “Normandy Strong Rally Week” today with a final rally at Viking Hall.

"Locally, we continue to focus on instruction so that our students will be ready for the assessments,” Normandy School Superintendent Ty McNichols said. “We want to prove that they are capable and committed."

The purpose of “Normandy Strong Rally Week” was to show the unaccredited school district is worth saving. Normandy schools have said it doesn’t have enough money to keep operating beyond April. The week’s events have been aimed at educating and engaging the community in the failing district’s future.

The district is hoping current students, alumni, and elected officials can rally together to keep the district educationally and fiscally operational.

Meanwhile, the State Board of Education has taken control of the school district’s finances. For now, the future of the district is uncertain.
