(KMOV.com) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed two EF1 tornadoes touched down in Illinois Thursday.

The NWS said one tornado touched in both Madison and Bond Counties making initial contact just three miles east-northeast of Highland and then remained on the ground for 12 miles. It then lifted southwest to Greenville.

Officials said the tornado was at maximum 50 yards wide with top winds reaching 105 miles per hour.

According to the NWS, the second tornado made contact in Fayette County just two and a half miles northwest of Brownstown.

The NWS reported the tornado stayed on the ground for four miles, but crews could not determine if the tornado continued further due to darkness. Officials also stated the tornado was a maximum of 50 yards wide with winds topping out at 105 miles per hour.
