(KMOV.com) –  The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) said the recent temperature swing is causing pot holes to pop up on local roads.

Friday, MoDOT said it encountered several large, dangerous potholes. The agency also helped drivers who drove over them.

“We really haven't seen this type of extreme swing in temperatures in a couple decades. So, we are going to be seeing what it does to our pavement, we are not excited, but we anticipate we're going to see more potholes,"  Tom Blair with MoDOT said.

MoDOT crews will be out on the roads this weekend. If you want to report a pothole, please call 1-888-756-6368.
