Metro East firefighters battle mobile home blaze

(KMOV.com) – The Red Cross is assisting two Granite City residents who were displaced after their mobile home caught fire early Friday morning.

The mobile home in the 3110 Block of W. Chain of Rocks Rd. at Lot 5 City caught fire just before 3 a.m. Firefighters from the Mitchell Fire Department and Long Lake Fire Department were called to the scene to fight the flames.

Authorities told News 4 fire crews were able to get both people out of the home safely. The residents took shelter in a neighbor’s home while firefighters battled the blaze.

The home sustained substantial damage.

According to officials, something underneath the home may have caused the blaze.
