Fire leaves Metro-East family in the cold

(KMOV.com) – A chimney fire caused a family to stay outside of their Hollywood Heights, Ill. home Monday night.

(KMOV.com) –  A family was forced into the cold after a fire swept through their Hollywood Heights, Ill. home Monday night. 

The fire broke out in the 1400 block of S. Clinton Rd. around 11:45 p.m.

According to officials, the fire started at the chimney and spread to the attic and roof.Firefighters responded to the scene and contained the blaze to one room of the home.

Two adults and two children were inside the home when the fire started. A man was outside when he noticed smoke from the roof and got everyone out of the home safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
