Woman in custody for hit-and-run crash in north St. Louis

(KMOV) – Police have a driver in custody they believe is responsible for a hit-and-run crash in north St. Louis Tuesday morning.

A 21-year-old woman was taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon for allegedly hitting an 85-year-old man as he was crossing the street. 

 The wreck happened near the intersection of Natural Bridge and Taylor around 10:30 a.m. where the suspect was traveling eastbound on Natural Bridge when she struck the victim. 

The male victim was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical/guarded condition. First responders say the victim was unconscious and bleeding from the head upon their arrival. 

Police say the suspect fled the scene but was taken into custody at the 3800 block of North Newstead Tuesday afternoon. 

Additional details into the investigation were not immediately known
