(KMOV) --  News 4 learned the same man who was recently charged for a carjacking at a south St. Louis hospital and robbing a credit union, is also wanted for stealing a car from a local car wash.

Robert Gusman, 34, is accused of stealing a 2005 Honda Accord as it was in the process of being cleaned at Concord Wash and Detail on South Lindbergh on October 4. He reportedly stole the vehicle as employees were toweling it off following the car wash.

“All the doors were open, and almost ran down one of the employees,” said Michael Woods of Concord Wash and Detail.

An undercover St. Louis County Police officer confirmed that Gusman is the same man who was also behind a carjacking at St. Anthony’s Medical Center and robbery of the Arsenal Credit Union on the 4500 block of Lemay Ferry on October 24.

"He admitted to selling the vehicle that he stole from the carwash on my case, to a drug dealer in north St. Louis City for crack cocaine," the officer said. "These were crimes of opportunity for him, and I believe he may have been desperate at the time.”

St. Louis County Police caught up with Gusman and arrested him on Oct. 24. Days later, he confessed to stealing the Honda from the car wash, which was later found to be in bad shape.

"We went ahead and detailed it for her for free. It was in rough shape. But I'm just really happy that she got her car back,” said Woods.

Turns out Gusman worked at the car wash briefly and confessed to knowing the car keys would be left in the ignition.

Robert Gusman was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, one count of stealing a motor vehicle, armed criminal action and resisting arrest by fleeing.

He is being held at the St. Louis County jail.
