BRIDGETON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police have found the two dogs believed to be involved in an attack on two people walking on the Riverwoods Park and Trail in Bridgeton on Monday.

Fire officials say the attacks happened near the end of St. Charles Rock Road around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

One of the victims was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to authorities, but the injuries are not considered life-threatening. The condition of the other victim was unknown.

Authorities said an officer from the Bridgeton Police Department responded to the scene and spotted one of the dogs. The dog, a pitbull mix, reportedly charged at the officer, who shot the animal in the shoulder.

Police said the injured dog got up and ran into the woods with at least one other dog.

The two dogs were later spotted after dark as officers were setting traps. According to police, the dogs were collared with catch sticks and taken away by Animal Control. The park had been closed while officers searched for the animals.
