MADISON COUNTY, IL (KMOV.com) -- Pontoon Beach police have issued charges for a gas station robbery that happened at midnight Tuesday.

The suspect, 17-year-old Kenyante Jackson of Centreville, reportedly walked into the Casey’s General Store on Pontoon Road at midnight and displayed a gun.

After demanding money from the clerk, he took the cash and fled on foot down Pontoon Rd. Jackson made it about a mile from the store and into Granite City before Madison County Sheriff’s deputies saw him walking on the road.

When Jackson saw the deputy, he reportedly ran between houses and jumped fenches on Mitchell Avenue.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., he was apprehended and taken to the Pontoon Beach Police Department Jail. He is charged with armed robbery and being held on $250,000 bond.
