(KMOV.com) -- A Metro-East man employed as a maintenance worker at a middle school has been charged with sexually abusing two underage students.
Paul McNicol, 21, was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and six counts of criminal sexual abuse, according to a press release on Friday.
Police say an investigation began in March after officers learned that McNicol had been involved in a relationship with a now 16-year-old female high school student. This part of the investigation resulted in misdemeanor sexual abuse charges.
According to police, further investigation revealed that McNicol was currently having a relationship with a 14-year-old female attending Mascoutah Middle School. Authorities said the victim's parents were not aware of the relationship.
McNicol was employed part-time with the Mascoutah School District, and mowed grass at the middle school. Authorities would not say whether he met the victims through his job.
McNicol remains jailed on $250,000 bond.
