(KMOV.com) -- Police are investigating an accident after a female mail carrier was hit by a vehicle in Wentzville.

Missouri Highway Patrol said the mail carrier got out of her mail truck when she was hit by another vehicle along southbound Highway 61 at Peine Road just before 6 p.m. Saturday.

Police reported the woman was delivering mail at the time of the accident.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where her condition is unknown.

Missouri Highway Patrol did not release any details as to why the woman got out of the truck.
