(KMOV.com) – The Missouri Department of Transportation on Monday will be focusing on fixing potholes with temperatures expected in the 70s over the next couple days.

MoDOT says the campaign, known as the Missouri Pothole Patrol, focuses on filling winter potholes with asphalt as quickly as possible after being reported.

Potholes are extra common in March because the road craters form when temperatures cool down at night after a warm day. This year’s topsy-turvy winter weather has created even more potholes in the St. Louis-area than usual.

Drivers who see potholes are encouraged to call MoDOT to report them. To report a pothole, click here or call 1-888-ASK-MODOT (888-275-6636).

Motorists can also email comments@modot.mo.gov or use a web app at www.modot.org/roadconcern
