(KMOV) – The victim of a theft at the Lumiere Hotel says hotel management attempted to buy his silence after he reported he was robbed.

“He said ‘No, you don’t have to call police. We have our own security and we are going to do our own investigation,’” said the victim, Saad Almallak, when asked what the hotel management said when he reported the theft. “He offered me money not to call you guys or the police and just get it over with.”

According to Almallak, when he returned to his room, a worker was inside claiming he was replacing a towel with a stain. After the worker left, Almallak said he realized $1700 was missing from his room. He says he called security, but they tried to keep the information about the crime from spreading.

Almallak says hotel staff offered to pay him $2500 if he did not call News 4.

When asked for a comment, a hotel spokeswoman said the police are investigating the incident.
