(KMOV.com) –  Stadia Studio is accused of cheating customers out  of thousands of dollars.

The Missouri Attorney General’s Office alleges the business, owned by St. Charles County resident Michael Allton, failed to provide website design, development, and hosting services to clients after receiving down payments.

Authorities said Stadia Studio sought customers on Craigslist and asked them pay 50 percent of the cost upfront. The company is accused of failing to provide promised service to at least 11 clients and stopped communicating with them as soon as they requested a refund. Attorney General Chris Koster believes those clients were cheated out of $12,000.

Koster also said Allton is operating another web design business called Social Media Hat that has failed to register with the state of Missouri,  an action that violates state law.

Those that have been ripped off online can file a complained at 1-800-392-8222 or by clicking here.
