Local pastor sentenced to federal prison for child pornography possession

(KMOV.com) – A St. Louis pastor has been sentenced on one count of poseession of child pornography.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis Friday released Friday that Father William Vatterott, former pastor at St. Cecilia Parish in St. Louis and former Associate Pastor at Holy Infant Parish in Ballwin, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 37 months  in a federal penitentiary.

According to the Archdiocese, Vatterott had been on administrative leave from St. Cecilia since June of 2011, when the Archdiocese was made aware of allegations against him.

The original claims did not mention child pornography, but did specify inappropriate electronic communications received by a minor and an incident of underage drinking.

During an investigation by law enforcement, child pornography allegations surfaced.  On their website, the Archdiocese posted a call for all residents to report any misconduct”

The Archdiocese of St. Louis encourages all persons with reports of misconduct with a minor involving a member of the clergy or other church personnel to contact Deacon Phil Hengen, Director of Child and Youth Protection at (314) 792-7704 or the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at (800) 392-3738 or law enforcement officials.
