(KMOV) –State lawmakers took time to listen to community members discuss improving education across Missouri on Monday night.
It’s all part of a series of talks being held statewide and some big issues including school transfers, were just a few of the hot-button things discussed.
Seventeen state leaders took questions and concerns from the public at St. Louis Community College, Meramec campus.
Representatives from the St. Louis Public School system also spoke at the forum.
Officials hope the listening tour will help concentrate the efforts of those in position to make the changes.
"That’s the main purpose of this tour is to listen a lot of the times if we just talk to the people they have some good ideas as far as solutions to problems that come up,” said Bryan Spencer, State Representative to Missouri District 63.
Officials believe the hearings can help them propose legislation which could improve state education.
