(KMOV) – A local youth dance instructor has been found guilty of statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl, authorities say.
Torris Caston may face a maximum of 20 years in jail for the sexual crime against the teen, who was a student at Caston’s dance studio in Webster Groves.
Police say the crime happened between 2004 and 2005.
“My aim was justice for the young woman who the defendant did this to,” said Assistant Circuit Attorney, Jennifer Szczucinski. “It's been a long time and she's gone through a lot, and it's been a long time since we charged him. And, I'm happy she's been able to achieve the justice she deserves and what she deserves for what he did to her."
Caston also has separate charges pending against him for allegedly physically assaulting a woman at a chapel on the campus of Saint Louis University.
