(KMOV) – The head coach of Lindenwood University’s dive team faces charges for allegedly spitting on officers after being pulled over on Interstate 70.
Kyle H. Friesenhan was charged with misdemeanor assault. Police have also asked prosecutors to charge him with driving while intoxicated.
According to police, Friesenhahn was pulled over on Feb. 3 around 3:10 a.m. after he was seen driving westbound on eastbound I-70 near Mid Rivers Mall Drive.
Police said he was taken to police headquarters, where he allegedly spit on police and tried to punch one of them. Authorities said he never made contact.
Police also said when they asked Friesenhahn to perform a sobriety test, he acted like he was having a seizure. An ambulance was called to the station, but medical officials determined he was fine.
Lindenwood placed Friesenhahn on unpaid leave on Thursday. He has also lost a part-time job as diving coach for schools in the Ft. Zumwalt School District.
