(KMOV) – Deputies in Jefferson County are seeking help from the public in locating a brazen burglar.

Authorities say a woman was home alone hiding in a bedroom, armed with a gun, as the suspect ransacked her home.

“Its fear its anger you second guess yourself you wonder could I have done something different,” the woman said, not wanting to reveal her identity. “I kept hearing some noises they sound like they’re in the basement I started to become nervous.”

She ran upstairs and called her husband but grabbed a weapon first.

“I had my gun at least for protection and gave him that warning to just leave.”

The suspect heeded her warning and ran when she yelled that the police were on their way.

“He didn’t want me home I didn’t want him in my house so I think he just wanted to get away from me,” she said.

The suspect escaped through the back door, making off with over $2,000 in stolen electronics.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials have a photo taken by a neighbor’s surveillance video they hope will help caught the suspect.

It is a blue Ford Ranger with damage to the front driver side. Investigators say this is the truck the suspect fled the scene in.

“The home that is supposed to be your safe haven, you’re left feeling different,” she said.

Investigators say anyone with information on this incident or the vehicle described is asked to call Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
