(KMOV) -- More than $50 million in funds are opening up to Illinois communities to improve transportation infrastructure and various projects.

In Madison County, Collinsville will begin streetscape improvements on Clay Street.

The Metro East Park and Recreation District will be given funds to complete the Scott-Troy Trail connecting Madison to St. Clair County.

In St. Clair County, a bicycle commuter trail will be developed near Scott Air Force Base and in O’Fallon, new bike trails will connect the city to Shiloh and the New Memorial Hospital Campus.

Funding comes from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program. Officials say the projects will create more than 400 jobs throughout Illinois.
