(KMOV.com) – Illinois drivers now have another option to get downtown from the Poplar Street Bridge.

Drivers who need to get downtown can exit Interstate 70 onto Washington Ave. and immediately turn left. There are no lights, no stops just turning and heading back south. It's known as a "Texas U-turn."

Missouri Department of Transportation engineer Deanna Venker told News 4 drivers should “just bypass the Memorial exit and go straight onto the Washington Ave. exit. Carry on your way as you normally would”.

Other options for getting downtown include merging onto I-44/55 from the Poplar Street Bridge or staying on I-64 and exiting at 9th St. past Busch Stadium.
