3 firefighters injured while battling blaze in Illinois

CAHOKIA, Ill. (KMOV) – Three firefighters from Camp Jackson were injured while battling a two-alarm house fire in Cahokia Friday afternoon.

Authorities said one firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion, another suffered a broken leg and the third suffered a shoulder injured while battling the blaze that started around 4:15 p.m. at 21 Delano Dr.

A resident told News 4 he was cooking French Fries when he decided to go to the bathroom. When he came back into the kitchen, he said the kitchen was on fire.

Firefighters from Camp Jackson, Washington Park, Prairie Dupont, Church Road, Cahokia and Alorton were on the scene assisting in controlling the blaze.

 

Firefighters said the house was destroyed by fire.
