(KMOV.com) -- Thieves broke into 18 vehicles at a south St. Louis hotel as a part of a series of break-ins around the area overnight.
Police said the initial burglary happened at the Holiday Inn Express at the intersection of Lafayette and Jefferson around 1 a.m.
Authorities said the suspects stole electronics from the vehicles. It was not clear what else was taken.
A worker told News 4’s Laura Hettiger the hotel became aware of the break-ins after an officer saw four men get into a pickup truck parked alongside one of the vehicles that were broken into.
Authorities said as the officer approached, the truck fled the scene heading east on Russell.
It was not clear what, if anything, was taken from the vehicles.
Police said cars were also broken into near Lumiere Casino, Joe Buck's restaurant at Clark and 10th, as well as vehicles at the Pageant in the Loop and at the intersection of 4th and Washington.
Police are currently looking into whether the break-ins are related. No suspects were in custody in any of the cases.
