(KMOV) – Much of the St. Louis area is under a Heat Advisory Monday as the heat index is expected to reach triple digits with the chance for some severe storms later.
A humid Monday morning started off with temperatures in the 70s. The high is expected to reach about 96 degrees, though the heat index will make it feel more like 105.
Because of the forecast, a Heat Advisory is in effect from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. for St. Louis, St. Charles, Madison and St. Clair counties. The city of St. Louis is also under the advisory.
Some storms could develop Monday afternoon into the evening.
More scattered storms will make their way into the area late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Some of those storms could be severe.
Looking ahead, Tuesday is expected to also be hot with high temps near 90 degrees. There will also be a slight chance of a stray shower or storm mainly south of St. Louis.
