(KMOV.com) -- The St. Louis Regional Chamber and an investment group are looking to invest $800,000 in eight start-up companies in the area.
The investment group is call Cultivation Capitol and they are looking for start-ups that are creating new technology the in which the finance industry would be interested, whether it’s apps or new ways of processing credit card information.
The idea is to build new companies in the same city that already house big names in finance, like Edward Jones, Scottrade and Wells Fargo.
“There’s a real fundamental strength we have over most communities in the United States and so we’re trying to opportunize on that for the 21st century,” said Jay De Long with the St. Louis Regional Chamber, “You’ve got to be aggressive to move from those strengths and be innovative to stay competitive.”
The start-ups involved in this new effort will work out of the T-Rex Space that already houses other local start-ups.
