Ground was broken for phase two of Gaslight Square on Friday, a positive sign of urban development in north St. Louis.
North Sarah 2 will consist of 103 mixed-income rental housing. It also includes an urban grocery store.
“The area has been severely underserved,” said Ronald Roberts with McCormack Baron Salazar. “Years of disinvestment, which the impact of phase one and phase two brings about the revitalization of the area.”
The $30 million first phase of development, which opened in the fall of 2012, includes 120 housing units and nearly 12,000 square feet of commercial, management and community space.
