COLUMBIA, Ill. -- A funeral was held Monday for a Columbia, Ill. girl who was found stabbed to death in her ex-boyfriend’s home last week.
Services for 17-year-old Erin Schneider happened at 10 a.m. at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo. Schneider was scheduled to then be buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery.
Schneider’s body was found at a home in the 200 block of Riebeling Thursday, just hours before she and 20-year-old Jordan Kuykendall were scheduled to appear in court regarding a protection order against him.
On Sunday, Kuykendall was charged with first-degree murder in her death.
Police say two hours before Schneider’s body was discovered, Kuykendall was hospitalized after his car crashed head-on with another vehicle near his home. On Saturday, police said Kuykendall had apparently caused the crash.
Kuykendall is listed in stable condition at a St. Louis hospital, but police said he is not cooperating in the investigation.
Deputy Commander Thomas Coppotelli said an autopsy revealed Schneider died of multiple stab wounds to the neck and upper torso.
Kuykendall’s bond has been set at $1 million.
