Funeral arrangements set for Hillsboro soldier killed in Afghanistan

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Funeral arrangements have been set for a local soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Private First Class Matthew H. Walker, 20, from Hillsboro, Missouri, died June 5 in Afghanistan after being attacked and shot by enemy fire.

Walker is being flown into Spirit of St. Louis Airport Saturday where there will be a private ceremony held for his family.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15 at Kutis Funeral Home, located at 5255 Lemay Ferry Road.  It is open to the public from 3 p.m.- 8 p.m.

The funeral will be Monday, June 16 at Manchester United Methodist Church at 129 Woods Mill Road. The service starts at 11 a.m.

Walker was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
