(KMOV.com) – Heavy rains have the waters of the Mississippi River rising above flood stage and having effects on both sides of the river.

I-DOT is closing down state road 100 in Grafton, Ill. due to flooding waters.

In Hannibal, Mo. residents are being forced to used boats and canoes to get around neighbors. Waters have risen up to the doors of some homes in the area.

Officials said it could be days before the water recedes and roads and bridges open up.
