(KMOV)—One Jefferson County community heard a flood of complaints for setting off the tornado sirens on Tuesday even though there were no tornado warnings.

Unlike most cities and counties, Pevely and Herculaneum sound their sirens for tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings.

But one city alderman wanted to change that, he’s worried that sounding the sirens too often will lead to confusion. It could also make residents complacent about the warning when there’s a life threatening situation.
