An Oklahoma family says a police officer shot and killed their dog for no reason.
Police say that the shooting was necessary, because the dog had escaped the family’s yard and was acting aggressively.
The family described the dog as “never aggressive” and “a great dog”.
A witness to the shooting said the cop "turned to the animal control officer and said ‘did you see the way her collar flew into the air when I blew her head off? That was awesome’ and laughed".
Supporters of the family are rallying on Facebook for the officer to be fired.
The captain of the police department where the officer works said that the officer received death threats following the shooting.
The captain also said that an internal review of the incident found that the officer acted according to the department’s protocol.
