CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A herd of lost and apparently confused deer ran into multiple buildings and one restaurant before two were struck and killed on Highway 40 near Chesterfield Thursday morning.

On Thursday morning, the Chesterfield Police Department received multiple calls about four deer running around in the 17,000 block of Chesterfield Airport Road. There is a new outlet mall being built at this location officials said.

According to Steven Lewis with the Chesterfield Police Department, the deer were outside Kaldi’s Coffee House restaurant when one hit a glass window. The establishment was not damaged.

Authorities believe the deer bounced off other area buildings before running onto Highway 40 near the Boone Bridge.

Missouri Highway Patrol officials said they removed the remains of three deer after they were struck by vehicles. The drivers of those vehicles were not injured.

There’s no word on what happened to the fourth deer.
