ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Customers of Becky’s Carpet and Tile want answers after six locations in the St. Louis area abruptly closed without warning. Some 30 employees are out of work and customers are concerned their money may be gone.
Kelly Henry was a customer at Becky’s and now wonders if she’s going to get the product she paid for or receive a refund. Henry said on June 2 she placed a $2,100 order at Beck’s for ceramic tile and paid $1,100 down.
Kelly says she went back to one of the stores famous for its flying carpet ads last Saturday to return a sample. She was told the tile would be ready Monday.
“(I definitely feel) out of sorts. We wouldn’t have stripped the kitchen had we not been told it was supposed to be here yesterday.” said Henry.
Owner Becky Rothman has reportedly sent out handwritten letters to customers who have paid for goods but have not received them. The letters apparently say the customers will be getting their money back.
News 4 tried to contact Rothman, but there was no response.
It remains to be seen if she will keep the promise she made in the letter.
