Drivers on Thursday will be able to use another route to get into and out of downtown St. Louis.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will opening up the Tucker Street ramp that will connect Interstate 70 to downtown.
The exit ramp will give drivers a straight shot from I-70 until Tucker turns into Gravois.
But with creating a brand new structure, some have wondered if it cost MoDOT more than originally estimated.
“Tucker ramp is incorporated into the interchange for the Mississippi River Bridge and by adding the ramp, you’d think it would cost more, but it eliminated some other retaining walls, etc, so that actually resulted in a $200,000 savings to our project,” said MoDOT Project Director Randy Hitt.
The new ramp should also make things easier for drivers heading to Rams’ home games since the downtown detour will be removed.
