(KMOV.com) – The St. Charles County Department of Transportation announced it will close the Hopewell Road Bridge Friday afternoon.
Officials said the bridge, which is located, a half mile south of Highway N and just north of Diehr Road will be closed anywhere from five to eight days to build a temporary bridge. The work is being done because officials said the condition of the support beams on the current bridge has deteriorated.
During the closure, motorists are encouraged to use Diehr Road, Highway DD, Sommers Road, or Highway N as a detour. Officials said a permanent new bridge is excepted to open by the end of the year.
