(KMOV.com) -- The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about a website that may be designed to create confusion for consumers looking for business ratings.
The website is for a company called the Nationwide Business Bureau.
It offers company ratings much like the BBB does.
But the BBB says consumers around the country, including St. Louis, have lost thousands of dollars after sending money to companies with fake ratings and bogus testimonials.
“They’re thinking getting good reliable info,” said the BBB’s Chris Thetford. “But instead what they’re getting are companies that have bad grades with the actual Better Business Bureau”
The BBB is currently contacting legal authorities about the Nationwide Business Bureau’s use of the similar sounding name, and business model.
