(KMOV.com) -- A mother in Jefferson County is furious over how Fox High School handled a bus accident that she says injured her teenage daughter.

A Fox High School bus got into an accident Friday and school officials reported no one was injured, but Cathy Murillo said her 14-year-old daughter Desiree is on three pain medications and was diagnosed with whip lash and neck and back sprains due to the accident.

The accident happened at Highway 141 and Jeffco Boulevard.

“When I say her,” Cathy said, “she was not feeling well and she was complaining her neck and back hurt.”

Cathy said Fox High School left a voice message at home stating that Desiree was in a minor bus accident. Cathy said none of her other emergency numbers were contacted and it was hours before she found out about the crash.

“When I called the school my concern was why was only my home phone called,” said Cathy, “No cell phone or any other emergency contact numbers.”

District officials with Fox have not commented on the injuries sustained by Desiree. They said a crack in an air valve for the brakes have been fixed, citing the brakes as the cause of the accident.
