(KMOV.com) – 7-Eleven is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who helps catch a suspect they say shot and killed a clerk at one of its south St. Louis stores in early June.
Police said 30-year-old Mon Rai was killed by a gunman at the 7-Eleven located at Gravois and Bates around 12:30 a.m. on June 10.
Officers responded after a customer found Rai lying on the floor bleeding, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities later released surveillance photos the suspect, who was armed with a silver, semi-automatic handgun and appears to have a light complexion. He is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9 with a medium to stocky build. The suspect was wearing a unique black jacket, black pants, black tennis shoes, black gloves and a black ski mask.
Rai, a Bhutanese refugee who was excited about his new life in America, left behind a pregnant wife who gave birth to the couple’s second child a week after his death.
“Anytime I see face of my children I think about him,” said Susila Rai, who added their daughter, Rachel, looks like her father.
While CrimeStoppers was already offering a $1,000 reward for info leading to an arrest, 7-Eleven announced Monday it would give away $5,000 for an arrest and conviction.
