BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- Belleville police are investigating two fatal crashes, and multiple other accidents, on icy stretches of Route 15 and Route 13 Friday night.

Police responded to a head-on collision on Route 13 near the intersection with Route 15 around 8:25 p.m. Investigators said a white minivan occupied by four people collided with a black Toyota SUV. Thomas Hutchison, 51, and his son Zachary, 9, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The minivan's other two passengers were taken to SLU Hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the SUV was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Less than an hour later, police and emergency crews were called to the scene of second accident, this time on Route 15 near the Our Lady of the Snows Shrine.

Robin Scott, 27, and Tyieosha Dewalt, 17, both of Cahokia, were killed in the crash.

Investigator say roads were frozen between Illinois 157 and Charles Drive, creating hazardous conditions for drivers.

A Belleville police officer was also injured while assisting one of the accidents. The officer was transported to SLU Hospital, but has since been released.

Belleville police continue to investigate these accidents. No charges have been filed at this time.

Illinois State Police reported 10 major crashes and several other minor accidents last night on Route 15 due to icy road conditions.
