The Washington State Patrol arrested a 14-year-old boy in Bellingham early Wednesday morning after a short car chase. He is suspected of drinking and driving.

A trooper spotted a 2009 Pontiac driving 20 miles under the 50 mph speed limit and weaving down Guide Meridian before 7 a.m.

When the officer turned on his lights, the car sped up and turned off the road, eventually entering an apartment complex.

The Pontiac hit a Honda Civic, Nissan Altima, and Honda Accord, then traveled 50 feet or so hitting a Buick Onclave before stopping against the sidewalk.

There were four passengers in the car, including two 12-year-olds, a 15-year-old, and a 53-year-old man. WSP PIO Keith O'Leary describe all but one of the 12-year-olds as extremely intoxicated.

The driver was booked into juvenile detention for suspicion of driving under the influence, eluding police and taking a motor vehicle without the owner's permission. More charges are possible.
