Suspect leads police on chase with children in car

(KMOV.com) – The Circuit Attorney’s Office has charged a woman who led police on a chase from Wellston to downtown St. Louis Tuesday.

Anitra Prince, 27, is charged with assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said the chase began around 4:15 p.m. as a shoplifting incident at Family Dollar in Wellston. Prince fled police in a white Dodge Caravan when it reportedly hit a person at the intersection of Kingshighway and Martin Luther King Dr.

 

Police say the she also nearly hit the cruiser of the police officer who responded to the shoplifting call.

There were at least four kids inside the van during the chase. There was also an infant in a car seat. Paramedics examined them on scene and determined there were no injuries.

The children are being cared for by other family members.

Bond is set at $50,000 cash only.
