The fire turned out not to be that serious. It happened Sunday night and most of the damage was contained to one small room thanks to a sprinkler system in the building. There's lots of soot and smoke damage and production won't be up to full capacity again for another day or two.
The owner of the business, Rebecca Herwick has a lot going on at the moment. She was nice enough to do a brief interview with me and show me around the Global Products production facility.
What an impressive business. Global Products makes Harley-Davidson hats and all sorts of gifts like shot glasses, mugs, mousepads, koozies, etc with logos for specific Harley-Davidson retailers all over the world.
If it weren't for the relatively minor fire, I'd have had no idea this business existed in St. Peters. Since they don't sell the stuff directly to the public, Global Products (globalproductsinc.com) flies under the radar. The neat thing is, if you collect Harley stuff and find yourself buying a Harley souvenir in some other part of the world, check the tag... You'll see "St. Peters, Missouri" on it. Cool.
