(KMOV) – An elderly woman called News 4 after the city of St. Louis has made plans to condemn her north St. Louis home due to a large hole in the back of the house.

Cecilia Williams, 76, was living in her home for the past 44 years on Maffit but now it’s condemned after a neighboring home was torn down.

The city hung a sign on Williams’ door on Wednesday saying she was forced out.

In November, the house next to hers was torn down and her home could not handle the pressure of the demolition.

The following day, a wall on the back of Williams home was crumbled to the ground.

Williams called her insurance company for help.

“When I reported it to them, they said they couldn’t give me anything because it was like a tornado, the insurance doesn’t cover tornadoes,” Williams said.

She said she was out of options after having no family to turn to and on a fixed income.

News 4’s Brittany Noble talked to city officials who say they are looking into her case and  to see how they can help.
