(KMOV) – A woman is suing Eckert’s Orchards after she claims she stepped in a hole at the company’s Millstadt property.

Nicole Haas filed a lawsuit in St. Clair County against the self-pick orchard company on Aug.  1.

According to the lawsuit, Haas said she was looking for fruit in the orchard in Oct. 2011 when she stepped in a hole and suffered injuries.

The lawsuit says the orchard encourages people to pick their own fruit and failed to warn people about possible holes in the ground on the property.

Haas, who is represented by attorney Kevin Boyne, claims the orchard acted with negligence and is asking for $50,000 in damages for medical costs, court costs and lost wages.
