JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KMOV.com) – Police say a woman died in house fire on Tuesday night.

According to police, they responded to a call to a fire at home in the 9200 block of Highway WW close to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.

When authorities arrived they found the remains of a dead woman, whom they believe is 71-years-old, but have not identified. Authorities say the woman was the only person inside the house at the time.

An investigation revealed the fire started near the back of the house. The Jefferson County’s Sheriff’s Office says the fire is not suspicious and there were no working smoke alarms in the house at the time of the fire.
